Principal's Message

Welcome to a new year at Rancho Milpitas Middle School. I am excited and honored to be serving as your principal. I am confident that with a strong school-home partnership, all our students can achieve success.

Our staff is dedicated to ensuring that we provide your students the opportunity to succeed and compete globally. Our mission focuses on empowering students to develop strong communication and collaboration skills and to be confident, critical, and creative thinkers.  It is important that our students see themselves as scholars and lifelong learners, contribute positively to our society, and serve as custodians of their community in the process.

We value our students' diversity.  The strength of our cultural differences is an asset that we utilize to educate the child. We recognize the importance of a culturally relevant curriculum and lesson delivery strategies that are not only rigorous but also engaging, ensuring our students' academic and emotional needs are met.

I look forward to our partnership and serving this community in the years to come.

Dr. Vern Caruz, Principal

About Dr. Caruz

Dr. Caruz’s academic and professional experience has focused on transformational change and is founded on the necessity that traditional systems are incapable of meeting the interests of all students. His research interests center on cross-cultural leadership, developing counternarratives and counterstories in racialized contexts, and how cultural traditions and values profoundly affect how we navigate our personal and professional lives. Dr. Caruz received a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Kinesiology from San Jose State University, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Berkeley’s Principal Leadership Institute, and a Doctorate in Education from East Carolina University. Dr. Caruz is a recipient of the 2026 Fulbright Leaders for Global Schools fellowship.
